On 30 January 2025, SMC-NEWSTEP organised a hackathon that brought together participants from six different institutions to take on a set of provided challenge topics. Working in teams, students explored the problems and presented a range of innovative solutions — turning ideas into practical prototypes and proposals.
The event captured the spirit of the NEWSTEP project: fostering digital skills, entrepreneurship, and collaborative problem-solving across partner institutions. Over the course of the day, teams brainstormed, built, and pitched their solutions to a panel, showcasing the growing innovation capacity of Nepalese students.
The hackathon reflected NEWSTEP’s commitment to hands-on, real-world learning and cross-institution collaboration — another step forward in building an ecosystem where ideas meet execution.
